Fix Realtek HD audio manager missing in windows 10/11

In this post, I’m going to show you how to fix Realtek HD audio manager missing in windows 10.

Here’s a short story about how I noticed this issue on my Windows 10 PC.

I wanted to record a video for my YouTube channel.

I opened OBS recording software and started recording.

And, as usual, just to make sure everything is fine, I recorded for 10 to 15 seconds.

Then I watched the output video.

But somehow my microphone level was very low, so I needed to fix it.

So I wanted to open Realtek HD audio manager but when I checked in the system tray, it wasn’t there, and also in the search box, the Realtek HD audio manager was missing.

I wanted to fix this issue as quickly as possible.

Because I make videos daily for my YouTube channel.

I searched everywhere on YouTube, on the Microsoft website and whatnot, forums also but it wasn’t working at all.

Everyone in the YouTube video was saying that you need to reinstall the Realtek driver and you need to install the latest version, that’s it.

I did everything I could but still, it was not working at all.

So as usual I did a trial and error method.

And I found the only solution you need to fix missing Realtek audio manager on windows 10 PC.

I fixed my issue within just two minutes after searching for a solution for near about two hours, LOL.

Why does this problem occur?🤔

The simple answer is you install the latest version.

Because the latest Realtek audio driver has a bug in it and hence it's not working properly with the latest version of Windows.

The version is R2.82 which does not work properly on most Windows computers.

Your audio system will be fine but you won't have Realtek audio manager if you install the latest version.

Most PCs don't have this problem but some people are getting this without even doing anything to Realtek drivers.

This is the main cause so we are going to reinstall the driver with the correct one that has Realtek manager without any bugs.

How to fix the missing Realtek audio manager?😐

As I said earlier, we are going to reinstall the audio driver, not the latest one but the correct one.

We are going to install the correct version and I have tested this and currently, on my PC, this version is installed.

I figured this out when the latest version was not working for me and hence I decided to revert back to the previous version.

And surprisingly it worked like a charm without any errors and bugs.

So I can assure you that it is really working.

So let’s see the step-by-step process and in detail how you can fix this problem on your PC, too.

Steps to fix missing Realtek audio manager:

1. Check whether it is really missing or not.

Make sure it is really missing otherwise you will install the wrong version and it will overlap with the current one.

These are some areas or locations on your PC in which you can find or search Realtek audio manager.

i) System tray

The system tray is located on the bottom right corner of your desktop screen.

On your taskbar, go to the extreme right corner.

There you will see an arrow, click on that.

By default, windows open Realtek manager in the background when you start your PC.

ii) Startup items

Open task manager, scroll down and find the Realtek manager in the list.

If it is not there then go to the startup tab.

If it is running in the background it will be seen in this area.

iii) Search box

Just search in the windows search box if it is there it means you have Realtek manager.

iv) Control panel

Open control panel.

In the search box, just type Realtek and you will see Realtek manager.

If you have checked everywhere and still Realtek audio manager is missing from your PC then go to the next step.

2. Delete the Realtek program

We are going to delete everything related to the currently installed Realtek drivers.

Don't worry about it because we will install the stable and correct version of the Realtek audio driver that comes with the Realtek audio manager without any error.

In short, we are going to reinstall the Realtek audio driver but with the correct and stable version without any bug or error.

Right-click on your Start menu button.

There you will see the Apps and Features option, click on that.

Now you will see all the apps and programs installed on your PC.

In the search box type Realtek and you will find all the Realtek programs installed on your PC.

You need to delete all of them.

We are deleting the Realtek program because we do not want to overlap the currently installed program with the program that we are going to install.

Don't worry about it we will install everything related to Realtek in further steps.

3. Uninstall the Realtek driver

Now you have deleted the Realtek program let's uninstall the Realtek driver completely.

Open search box and type device manager.

Or else you can right-click on the start menu button and there you will see device manager, click on that.

Now you will see all the drivers installed on your PC.

Now here search for the sound, video, game controllers group.

Under this group, you will find the Realtek driver.

Right-click on the Realtek driver add click on uninstall the driver.

You will see the warning about uninstalling so just tick or check that option and uninstall the driver.

That's it now you have completely uninstalled all the services related to the Realtek program and drivers.

4. Restart your PC

After doing the above steps, you just need to restart your PC.

Don't forget to restart your PC because restarting is very important.

Realtek services won't be completely deleted until you restart your PC so just reboot your PC.

Now carefully follow the next steps.

5. Don't install the latest Realtek driver

If you are facing any problems related to the Realtek driver or Realtek HD audio manager missing then you may have the latest version or the incorrect version of the Realtek driver.

As I mentioned earlier latest Realtek driver has a bug in it and it's not working properly with the latest version of Windows for most Windows users.

Currently, the latest version of the Realtek driver at the time of publishing this article is R2.82.

So don't ever install the Realtek driver if you don't want to face the missing Realtek audio manager issue in windows PC.

If you are not using Realtek audio manager then you are free to install the latest Realtek driver in your system.

But since you are here you want Realtek audio manager in your system, right?

So don't install the latest driver just because some YouTubers are saying.

They don't even know how to fix this issue, they are just taking information from random sites and putting it together, that's it.

Trust me, my friend, I've done everything but this is the only method that worked for me that I'm about to show you.

Let's see.

6. The correct version of the Realtek audio driver

As I said earlier, the latest version of the Realtek driver at the time of publishing this article is R2.82.

But it's not working for most people.

So you need to install the correct version of the Realtek audio driver in your Windows 10 system.

And the correct version is R2.81.

Yes, the previous version is working fine for me.

It does not have any type of bug or error in my system.

So keep this in mind, you need to install the 2.81 version of the Realtek audio driver and not the latest one.

Now just download and install the R2.81 setup from the given links.

7. Download and install this setup

Now you need to download according to your PC architecture whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit.

If you don't know what is the exact architecture of your PC just type system information in the search box and then find the system type and there you will see your PC architecture.

Download Realtek Driver R2.81 (32-bit)

Download Realtek Driver R2.81 (64-bit)

Download the correct Realtek driver according to your PC and install it.

I have both Realtek audio console and Realtek audio manager on my Windows 11 PC.

If you want to know how to download and install Realtek audio console in Windows 10 then read this article.

Or click on this youtube link.

Download the Realtek audio console.

Watch the youtube video or read the article, the methods are the same for both links.

8. Again restart your PC

Now again after installing the setup, you need to restart your PC to take effect.

Realtek will give you notification of the same.

So just restart your PC, ok?

9. Search for the Realtek audio manager

Now after you restart your PC, Realtek audio manager will be installed on your PC.

It will automatically run when the system starts.

Just connect your headphone or microphone and you will see Realtek audio manager prompt on your screen.

If you don't find Realtek audio manager in the system tray or on the connection of your microphone or headphone, just search in the search box.

10. Done!

Now you have completely installed the stable and correct version of the Realtek audio driver with Realtek HD audio manager.

That's it.

This is how you fix Realtek audio manager missing from your Windows 10 PC.

What to do if it is still not working?

If it is still not working for you or you don't find Realtek audio manager anywhere in your system then do the following steps.

1. Go to device manager

2. Find the Realtek driver

3. Right-click on that driver and click on update driver

4. Click on this: browse my computer for drivers

5. Now click on this: let me pick from a list

6. Here you will see two versions actually three: the basic audio driver, 2019 version, and 2020 version.

7. You need to install the 2019 version.

8. 2020 version won't work

9. Just double-click on the 2019 version and install it. Or select that version and click on the Next button.

10. Again restart your PC to take effect.

Done! Done! Done!

This was the final step for fixing this annoying issue.

This will definitely work because this worked for me after searching for a lot of hours and on a lot of websites.
