1. Clean Boot Drive

You need to remove leftovers and unnecessary files from the boot drive and Microsoft will auto recognize those files and will remove them from your PC.

You just need to go to the search box and type disk cleanup and you will see that option.

Just open that and select your boot drive.

Microsoft automatically selects the boot drive for you but if it's not selected then you can click on the dropdown arrow and select the boot drive.

Now just click on OK and it will scan for all the unnecessary files and folders from your boot drive.

After that, you will see a list of options to select so that it will be deleted by the windows PC.

Just select every option you see and then click on Clean System Files.

Again you need to select your boot drive and then you will see the list and again check all the options you see in that list.

And after selecting everything from the list,  you can finally click on OK and it will delete or remove all the unwanted and unnecessary files from your boot drive by Windows PC.

2. System Cleanup and fixing the errors

This is actually fixing the system errors so that if any program has taken over some files or folders, it will be removed or fixed by the system.

For this, you need to open CMD as an administrator.

And then you just need to enter these CMD commands one by one.

It will take some time obviously depending on how powerful your computer is and how many system errors you have on your PC.

It took me like 10-15mins as I have a gaming PC that is way more powerful than a normal PC.

CMD commands:

sfc /scannow

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

chkdsk c: /f /r

The last command is optional. It will scan your drive for system errors.

You can do this manually too without the CMD.

Go to your boot drive and right-click on that and then go to properties.

There you will see the Tools tab, open it and finally click on the Check button under the Error Checking section.

Watch the above video to know exactly how to do it.

3. Remove Unknown Programs

You just need to remove all the unwanted or unfamiliar or unrecognized programs from your PC.

Right-click on the Start button and then go to Apps and Features.

There you will see all the programs that are currently installed in your system.

Now just look for any unknown program and delete/ uninstall it.

As simple as that.

4. MRT Scan

This is the tool that I was talking about.

It's a built-in tool from Microsoft for Windows PCs and the name is Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Windows 11 has this tool installed in your system through the latest windows updates.

Just type MRT in the search box and you will see that tool.

If you don't find MRT in the search box then you don't have it.

You need to install this tool from this link.

Download MRT

This is the setup file from the official Microsoft website.

You just need to download and install it, easy.

Then you can open this tool from the search box.

And finally, you can scan for all the Malicious Software or files from your PC and this tool will automatically remove them for you.

Watch the video if you don't get it.

5. Stop Non-Microsoft Services

Go to the search box and type MSConfig and open it.

Now you need to go to the Services tab and click on Hide all Microsoft services.

These are all the non-Microsoft services running in the background and if any virus services are also running, they will be terminated.

You just need to click on disable all, that's it.

All these services will be stopped immediately and won't turn on again.

You can see the publisher here so that if any unknown name is present there you just need to follow Method 3 and apply it.

6. Remove Unknown Browser Extensions

This is the simplest step you can do to remove the unknown extensions regarding any unusual behavior from your browser or PC.

Just go to your browser and there you will see three dots on the top right corner.

Click on that and then you see the extension option.

Just open the extensions tab and remove all the unknown plugins or extensions.

7. Disable Startup Apps

Go to Task Manager and open the Startup tab.

Now just disable all the unknown apps so that if any virus app or service is there it will stop and won't turn on at the windows startup or boot.

8. Use Actual Anti-Virus

This is the main and by far the most important step of all the above methods.

Just install any free antivirus software, my friend.

Don't rely on these manual methods and act like you're some highly skilled professional Windows user, this is bullshit.

You can't possibly hope to remove viruses from your PC without antivirus because Anti-virus knows how to do its job.

There are many free programs available online so just watch any video on youtube on the best free antiviruses and install that you like.

9. Try a windows security scanner

Windows Security is a powerful scanning tool that finds and removes malware from your windows PC. Here's the short info on how to use it to scan and fix your PC.

Important: Before you use Windows Defender Offline, make sure to save any open files and close apps and programs.

To scan your Windows 11 PC:

1. Open your Windows Security settings.

2. Select Virus & threat protection > Scan options.

3. Select Windows Defender Offline scan, and then select Scan now.

The Windows Defender Offline scan takes approx. 20 minutes to run, scan and fix the errors automatically.

After that, it will restart your PC.

To see the scan results:

1. Open your Windows Security settings.

2. Select Virus & threat protection > Protection history.

The Windows Defender Offline scan will automatically detect and quarantine all the malware and harmful files on your Windows 11 PC.

10. Reset Your PC

If you're still facing any unusual behavior or you think all the above methods did not fix your problems then you can reset your PC.

Or you can just reinstall windows 11 to set default settings without actually losing your data.

You just need to download the Windows 10 ISO file or use the media creation tool to do this.

Conclusion:

These are just simple steps to remove any unknown program that could be a virus or harmful service installed into your system.

You really need to stop looking for how to check for viruses on computers without antivirus or how to remove viruses manually from laptops or Windows 11 PC.

Even though you can use these manual methods to remove viruses without antivirus on Windows 11 PC, you should really consider using actual antivirus software.
